School Supplies + Pets

Now that the kids are back in school, pet parents need to keep close watch on their pets while the kids are studying and doing homework. There are many school supplies that can be choking hazards for pets; and if pet parents aren't watching companion animals, they may find themselves at the vet with their pets. Here is a list of school supplies to keep out of reach of dogs and cats:

  • Markers - toxic; can make animals violently ill.
  • pencils/pens - sharp; can hurt pets
  • erasers - choking hazard
  • scissors - sharp; can hurt pets
  • Rulers - can be sharp and hurt pet's teeth if they chew on a ruler.

To avoid trips to the veterinarian, keep school supplies zippered up inside backpacks.
