Animals Attack Cats

We know that dogs chase cats. People chase cats; and occasionally, cats chase cats. But, do you know the top wildlife animals that attack cats? There are 10 top animals that will hunt cats. The list may surprise you:

  • Coyotes
  • Snakes
  • Cougars
  • Raccoons
  • Squirrels

  • Porcupines
  • Skunks

Some of these animals, such as the porcupine, lives in the desert regions of the United States and Canada; however, coyotes, have been seen in residential suburbs.

Most wildlife attacks on pets occur when wild animals are scouting for food; however, if they feel threatened, they will strike. Take white-tailed deer, for example. Doe with their young are guarded; and if humans and/or pets get too close to fawns, then doe will most likely attack out of protection for their fawn.

To protect cats from wildlife encounters, pet owners should install cat fencing in the yard to allow cats the opportunity to explore the outdoors without going head-to-head with wild animals.
