Celebrating National Pet Month
Did you know May is National Pet Month?! That’s right, a full month dedicated to our furry friends. We’ve built a bucket-list of ways to celebrate!
- Explore
Go on an outdoor adventure to enjoy the spring sunshine! You could visit a new park, zoo or take a hike with your dog. If you are tired of the heat, try a new dog-friendly restaurant to enjoy the AC. Another indoor option would be taking your kitty or pup to the pet store to see all the animals and get a new treat (if they behave, of course).
Must-see, Pet-friendly travel destinations:
- Rutland, VT (The Paw House Inn)
- Greenough, MN (The Resort at Paws Up)
- Nantucket, MA (The Cottages)
- Outer Banks, NC
- Lake Placid, NY
- Key West, FL
- Gatlinburg, TN
- DIY
DIY projects are rewarding! Plan to work on a new project this month. At Easy Pet Fence, we have DIY fence kits that make fence easy to install all by yourself! This could be a great gift to your pets to get them outside more often and independently this spring and summer.
Imagine the satisfaction of building a fence to keep your pets safe without the cost of an installer. You and your pet will love your fencing project even more knowing it was built with love. Here are some DIY fence kits we offer!
Here are some more of our favorite ideas!
- DIY Cat Puzzle
- DIY Flea and Tick Prevention Shampoos and Sprays (Perfect for May because it is also Lyme Disease Awareness Month!)
- Homemade Dog Treats
- DIY Rope Leash
- DIY Cat Tent
- Relax
Pick a lazy Sunday, or rainy evening to cuddle up with your pet(s) to have a movie marathon or binge your favorite show at home. Check out this list of dog movies ranked by Rotten Tomatoes to get you started!
- Give Back
There are many pet therapy programs that visit schools, nursing homes, hospitals, offices, etc. Give it a Google and find out if there is an opportunity to partner with a local organization like this and take your dog or cat to visit people who could use the extra puppy kisses.
Another way to give back to your pet community is contacting your local animal shelter(s) to find out how you can support them. There are always volunteer and donation opportunities to help shelter pets. And if you’re looking to add another fur baby to your family you can consider adopting or fostering!
We spent a few days helping our local animal shelter, Antietam Humane Society (Waynesboro, PA) build an Easy Pet Fence cat enclosure that we donated. This was a great way to give back to the pet community, and we had a great time doing it! Watch a recap on our trip .
Behind the scenes, the Easy Pet Fence team is a bunch of animal-lovers, and we are lucky enough to have a few office dogs that come in and out of our headquarters. We are so excited to spoil our pets this month and slip a few extra treats to the dogs under our desks!
