2021 Pet Trends
We are about to wrap up 2021, so why not discuss the pet industry trends that progressed this year?
Since 2020, there has been a spike in pet owners, which is followed by exponential growth in the pet industry itself. To say the least, big-time companies like Chewy, Petco, PetSmart, etc. have profited immensely.
Over the course of this year, people have developed an understanding and appreciation towards the idea of sustainability. There are many ways to define this concept, but it serves a simple principle; needs for survival depend solely on the natural environment. Hence, not only should YOU become more environmentally friendly, but your PETS should too!
That’s why the companies listed above have begun providing a wider variety of natural pet products that range from holistic cat/dog food, cat litter, natural flea and tick repellent, grooming products, toys, and so on.
With all natural products on the shelves, why not take it a step further?
Have you ever heard of holistic spa services for your pet? There is now a demand for pet reiki, acupuncture, and massage. Not only that, but yoga for dogs is on the rise too. Who would have ever thought? There are now even psychic communicators for pets (what do they even do?)! Lastly, who doesn’t want photos of their pets? Pet portrait photography is here to stay for the long haul.
These trends certainly took me by surprise! Maybe it’s because I live in a small town where big things never happen. Although, I am all in for finding natural ways to promote wellness. It never occurred to me that pets have the same luxuries as humans do. For instance, my cats live healthy and happy lives, and their routines consist of sleeping, eating, and repeating. That seems like luxury to me!
Is travel a thing of the past? Definitely not. The itch to get out of town and explore is higher than ever. Your pet is coming along too! Pet friendly travel is another high-business growth concept that is being adopted by an increasing number of businesses! This is good news for people who don’t want to leave their pets at home or at a kennel. From personal experience, I would much rather take my animals with me on vacations!
Another interesting trend is pet insurance. I am sure many pet owners have thought to themselves, “I have to take my dog/cat to the vet, I wonder what this is going to cost me?” Sometimes, I wonder if pet healthcare is more expensive than human health care.
Regardless of cost, we are going to do anything and everything to give our pets whatever they need, because they are family.
These were the rising 2021 trends; I wonder how things will change in the New Year. What trends do you think that 2022 will bring for your pet?
