Coyotes In Winter
Seeing a pack of coyotes is typical in the winter; and it creates a danger to homeowners with small children and pets.
Coyote breeding season runs from Late December through March with coyote pups arriving in March and April. After birth, coyotes will stay by their parents' side until late fall when they become 'adults.' This is when they go off to fend for themselves in search of food.
Coyotes are known for attacking small dogs and domestic cats. To keep pets safe, homeowners can install metal fencing that is at least 6 feet tall. One that includes PVC coating is best to add a secondary layer of protection against chew marks.
