Dog Lyme Statistics

Lyme Disease is the most common tick-borne disease in the United States affecting warm-blooded mammals including white-tailed deer, humans, dogs and cats. 

In 2017, Lyme Disease affected over 300,000 dogs in the United States. The number of dogs tested for Lyme, however, were higher, averaging at 4 million! So far this year, over 22,000 dogs have tested positively for Lyme Disease and 365,000 were tested. 

Lyme Disease cases are reported in every state; but some states live worse with Lyme Disease including: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maryland, New York, New Jersey and Vermont. 

The best method for controlling tick-borne diseases is to rid wildlife that may be carrying ticks. In other words, fencing out deer and rodents. Homeowners should consider this measure for both family and animal protection against ticks.
