Pollinating Plants + Pets
June is National Pollinator Month; and home gardeners are welcome to start a bee garden to not only feed bees, but to save the bees. While we may be somewhat fearful of these type of pollinating insects, we know (after doing our research) that bees are important and responsible for helping to produce over one-third of the world's produce through pollination.
Gardeners need to think about their pets before they grow pollinating plants, as some flowers may be toxic to pets. While many are not fatal to pets, some types of pollinating plants can make animals very sick. Some pollinating plants to avoid growing include lavender and dahlia.
Do the research to learn about pet-friendly flowers that won't harm animals year-round in the garden.
