Summer Plants & Pets
Summer is a great time of year to garden at home; but did you know that there are some types of plants that can make companion animals sick if ingested in large amounts or even be fatal? These summer plants are toxic to dogs:
- Lilies
- Tulips
- Azaelas
- Aloe - Great for burns; but not for pets.
- Gladiola
- Amaryllis
- Ivy
- Daffodils - a deer-resistant type of flower; but not suitable for pets.
- Milkweed - helpful for bee pollination; but not good for pets.
Hobby gardeners do not have to give up their passion for gardening because they own pets. It is recommended that plants are grown away from the pet fence. If pets will share space in the yard with these toxic flowers, keep close watch on your furry friends.
