Which Pet Is Best?
In 2016, the American Pet Products Association declared that at least 68 percent of Americans own some sort of pet. Raw estimates show that there are more cats than dogs in the United States (The APPA states that US pets include 90 million dogs and 94 million cats); however, most American households own at least one dog. But, which is the best pet to own?
Gallup News Service shared a poll from 2001 which stated that 73 percent of Americans preferred dogs rather than cats as pets. This may be because dog owners seem to have a stronger bond with their pets. In 2010, the numbers changed but the results stayed the same: 74 percent of Americans would rather own a dog than a cat.
'They have more personality. They are loyal,' he said. 'Cats are all about cats but dogs are interested in pleasing their owners. Cats don't care if they please you or not.'
