Why Adopt Barn Cats
Barn cats are feral cats that can be adopted at local humane societies in your area. There are many reasons why homeowners are choosing to adopt barn cats. The main reason has to do with rodents.
For homeowners dealing with mice, barn cats can chase them away, or permanently get rid of them in-and-around the household. These working cats have always been outdoor cats that are used to living outside and fending for themselves. However, unlike traditional feral cats, these barn yard cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.
During the first 2-4 weeks of bringing home a barn cat, new cat owners will need to confine cats inside an enclosure, such as a Kitty Corral Cat Fence. Then, the cats can go on to live in a rural outdoors area such as a barn, shed or garage.
Barn cats require the same basics as regular cats: shelter, healthy cat foods and fresh water. Play with them, love them; and see how hard they work to rid rodents from homes.
Ask your local animal rescue or humane society if they take part in a barn cat adoption program.
