Cat Adoption Month!
Brought to you by American Humane, Adopt a Cat Month is a call to action to consider cat adoption this June.
June is when adoption centers and cat rescues see an increase in cats brought in due to the rise in cat homelessness and mating with other felines that occurred in the springtime (kitten season). With 70 million cats living on the streets in the United States, now is the time to give cats a second chance at living and finding the purrfect companion pet for your family.
Cats make wonderful pets for several reasons. For one, they are independent and require little attention (although they love outdoor playtime with their owners and cuddles!). They do not require outdoor potty breaks like dogs and are capable of taking care of themselves while families are away for weekend getaways. They clean themselves and only need the basics: A fresh litter box; healthy cat foods; and toys.
70 percent of shelter intakes are comprised of cats; but 47 percent of prospective pet owners adopted cats between 2017-18 (APPA Survey). Help lower the number of cats that stay in animal shelters, and risk euthanization, by adopting a cat today.
