Keep Wildlife Away
Pet owners generally think about pet security or playtime in yards when considering to buy pet fencing for dogs and cats; however, there are other reasons to install a pet fence. One of the best reasons to install dog and cat fencing in summer is to avoid wildlife encounters and attacks on pets.
Wildlife have plenty to eat in the summertime from forests; but they seem to approach lawns and gardens for fresh-tasting flowers; fruits; and vegetables, anyway. Deer and elk will leave their newborn fawns and calves behind in the early morning hours to scout for food; while foxes, coyotes and wolves will travel throughout the day to find food. This means that wildlife are constantly on the prowl. And, wildlife have been known to attack pets if they feel they, themselves, or their young, are in danger.
Installing a pet fence that is at least 6 feet tall will prevent wildlife encounters and minimize the risk of attacks on pets. For deer, plastic fencing can be used; but if 'pack members' are in your area, it's best to install a metal fence.
Wildlife encounters with pets occur throughout summer and do not slow down until later in the year.
